IBRAHIM CONTEH (born October 13, 1984), is a rapper from Husby, Stockholm in Sweden, who started rapping in early ’97. Best known by his stage name Conté, he is one of the most ambitious rappers of all-time, with a style that reigns from hip-hop all the way down to calypso music, so placing him in one specific genre is an insult. He dropped his first official mixtape in May 2007, called “The Hybrid“, wich managed to reach 8000 new fans worldwide in matter of weeks. But still he felt as though people where “sleeping on him” since the mixtape had a whole new flavour to it that had never been tried before. So in November 2007 Conté decided that rap fans needed to give him the respect he deserved. He went back in to the studio and dropped his next mixtape called “Numba 13“, and with that tape he got into the game with a vengeance pushing over 30, 000 copies worldwide in the first month and still growing. Lately Conté has released his third Mixtape; “Unleash Tha Beast”; which took the world by storm and has the highest download rate DoeBoi has ever seen.
Born in Freetown, Sierra Leone (with a mixture of Lebanese and Caribbean blood also), But raised in Europe, Conté and his mother spent most of their time trying to find a safe place for him to grow up in. Moving from one place to another they finally settled down in Sweden. Raised in suburban Husby, Conté and his friend Kman formed Afterschool Productions. But after little dedication and time constraints, it was suggested that Conté try his luck as a solo act with Kman as his producer, and together with Moe (Conté‘s childhood friend and manager) they formed DoeBoi Muzik.
Conté first gained recognition with the song “Get Dat Doe” from “The Hybrid” (2007) mixtape. Expect to see alot more from this boy-next-door/rapping-phenomenon, as he works on establishing himself in the rap game.
